For as the heaven is high above the earth, [so] great is his
mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the
west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and
her mouth is smoother than oil; But her end is bitter as wormwood,
sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps
take hold on hell.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and
broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there
be which go in thereat: Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow
[is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven.
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both
soul and body in hell.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was
cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it
was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the
good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who
is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a
little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And
said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become
as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what
thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy
Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come,
ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye
gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger,
and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and
ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall
the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred,
and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink? When saw we
thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And
the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these
my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them
likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have
ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do
good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners
also do even the same. And if ye lend [to them] of whom ye hope
to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners,
to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good,
and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be
great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is
kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil. Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father also is merciful.
[Be] of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things,
but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own
But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also
sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him
give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we
shall reap, if we faint not.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
[it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our
Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood
of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work
to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in
his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for ever
and ever. Amen.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not
a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a
glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway
forgetteth what manner of man he was.
What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath
faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or
sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you
say unto them, Depart in peace, be [ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding
ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what [doth it] profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is
dead, being alone.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and
shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men
of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all
the people from every quarter: and they called unto Lot, and
said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night?
bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out
at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, and said,
I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have
two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring
them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes:
only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under
the shadow of my roof.
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone
and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those
cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities,
and that which grew upon the ground.
Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is
abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile
thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast
to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely
be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And if a man
take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt
with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among
you. And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to
death; and ye shall slay the beast.
And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto,
thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be
put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And if a man shall
take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter,
and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked
thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people:
he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a
sodomite of the sons of Israel.
Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he
uncovereth his father's skirt: and all the people shall say,
Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast: and all
the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with his
sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother:
and all the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with
his mother-in-law: and all the people shall say, Amen.
Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men
of the city, certain sons of Be'li-al, beset the house round
about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house,
the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine
house, that we may know him. And the man, the master of the house,
went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, nay,
I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come
into mine house, do not this folly.
And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according
to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out
before the children of Israel.
1 Kings 14:24
And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD,
as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of
the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
1 Kings 15:11-12
They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put
darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for
sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and
eat the fruit of them; take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters;
and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands,
that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased
there, and not diminished.
And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy
for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the
lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between
themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped
and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed
for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:
for even their women did change the natural use into that which
is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural
use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men
with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves
that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they
did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them
over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness,
covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit,
malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: who, knowing the judgment of God, that
they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do
the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom
of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters,
nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with
mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers,
nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such
were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but
ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit
of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness,
which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh
on the children of disobedience.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given
himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling
savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness,
let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither
filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient:
but rather giving of thanks.
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but
for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners,
for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers
of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile
themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured
persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to
sound doctrine; according to the glorious gospel of the blessed
God, which was committed to my trust.
1 Timothy 1:8-11
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the
common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and
exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which
was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men
crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation,
ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness,
and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will
therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how
that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which
kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he
hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment
of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomor'rah, and the cities
about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication,
and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example,
suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these
filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak
evil of dignities.Yet Michael the archangel, when contending
with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not
bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke
thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not:
but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things
they corrupt themselves.Woe unto them! for they have gone in
the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Ba'laam
for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah. These are
spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding
themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried
about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice
dead, plucked up by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming
out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the
blackness of darkness for ever. And Enoch also, the seventh from
Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with
ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and
to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly
deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard
speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.These
are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and
their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons
in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye
the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord
Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be mockers
in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the
Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most
holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the
love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto
eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference:
and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating
even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto him that is able
to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before
the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise
God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both
now and ever. Amen.
